Chickadee

ChickadeeThis is one bird that's able to say its name: as you walk in the wilds of Montana, you're apt to hear a "chick-a-dee-dee-dee". Chickadees make their home in wooded areas and eat mainly seeds and tiny berries. They're frequent visitors to backyard bird feeders and are probably one of the most loved birds. They stay in Montana year-round, adding insulation in their feathers for the winter months. Chickadees build their nests by hollowing out cavities in rotting stumps or dead trees. They're also quite careful to clean up after themselves; rather than letting the chips lay, they will carry off each tiny piece of wood to avoid any evidence of their nesting activity.
